Caller ID

A service available in both analog and digital telephone networks that identifies a caller to the recipient. The network transmits the caller’s phone number, which appears on a screen on the recipient’s device. Mobile users can save a number with a custom name to identify a caller in future, and in some cases a custom alphanumeric ID can be transmitted instead of a number.
