Home Location Register (HLR)

A database of mobile network subscribers, an HLR is held by the relevant operator and holds information about the number, services, and other information about each subscriber, including whether the number has been ported to/from another network operator. An HLR Lookup is a way of accessing this information, to confirm details such as number, operator, or location. By performing this lookup, GMS can ensure that messages are delivered to enterprise customers, even if their number has been ported to a new SIM or network.
