A2P SMS Messaging (Application-to-Person Messaging) refers to the process of sending mobile messages from an application situated on a computer or server to a mobile user. A2P SMS messaging is also called enterprise or professional SMS. Communication is initiated by a company’s computer systems, rather than an individual user.
It is used for many purposes by companies in a wide range of industries. A2P is the delivery method for status alerts, booking confirmations and multichannel marketing messages, such as information about loyalty programs or special offers. Sometimes referred to as Mobile Terminated (MT) because it is delivered to (“terminated” on) a mobile device.
